Mother's Day Challenge Card

Happy Friday! Be prepared ~ I feel a rambling post coming on. :) Today I wanted to share a card I made using one of the new releases from Fairy Knoll ~ her name is Iris. Quick sidenote ~ Iris was actually drawn so that I would have an image to use on a card to give to my mom for Mother's Day. :) Now back to the previously scheduled post ~ Please join us at Fun at Fairy Knoll for the Mother's Day challenge this week. :)

This card as a couple of neat features... there are some close-up's down a little farther about making your cardstock look suedelike. The ribbons are layered ~ a lilac polka dot over a satin purple. Looks pretty cool in real life. :)

A shot of the inside... this paper is so very fabulous to work with. It has such happy colors! The name of it is Lime Twist from My Mind's Eye.

Here is the mini-tutorial I was telling you about. Being the brainiac that I am, I forgot that Stampin Up cardstock doesn't have a white core.... something that come to light after I had been sanding away for a while. :) The picture below shows the paper prior to sanding..... but wait for it..

this is the paper after sanding! You may have to click to enlarge the photo to see exactly what I am talking about, but doesn't it look like suede? A happy error on my part!

Hope you have a fun and fabulous Friday!

Fairy Knoll Thank You Challenge

It's time for another Fairy Knoll challenge ~ this week the theme is Thank You. My card features one of the newest releases from Fairy Knoll called The Rose.

I opted for a simple layout using layered spellbinder die cuts, a layered flower, three butterflies, and a sentiment from AmyR.

Have a wonderful day!

~Smiles~

Colorful Christmas

Happy Friday! :)

Today we are celebrating Colorful Christmas at the Fun at Fairy Knoll Challenge... the only requirements this time are to use color and a Christmas image! :)

My project is a little box that I made (I traced a box I had taken apart) that should be just perfect for giving away truffles at Christmas time. The paper is from K&Co, the image from Fairy Knoll, and the sentiment from All That Scraps.

Hope you have lots of fun weekend plans! Smiles ~ Brandi

Blinged Out Birthday

Break out your glitter girls ~ this week the Fun at Fairy Knoll challenge is Blinged Out Birthday! Talk about a challenge with a lot of possibilities!!! :)

My card features Birthday Cake Fairy ~ she can also be purchased as Birthday Cake Girl to make her a little more versitile. :) Isn't she cute! I worked in an opposite manner from my normal routine and picked out my papers first.... that made coloring so much fun! I can't image picking out this color combo without inspiration. The dots and the sparkle on the flowers are brought to you by Stickles. The DP is from Bo Bunny, sentiment stamp from PMS, hearts from a Martha Stewart punch, and Kaisercraft pearls. That's about it I think. Hope you have a awesome weekend! Smiles ~ Brandi

Friday Fun!

Hello! Today I have a slightly overshaded card to share with you... this card was made for Friday Fun at Fairy Knoll... there is a sketch this week and the option of using Monochromatic colors to get an extra entry into the drawing for a free digi. So to get back on topic, I went a little crazy with the shading. The thing that I forgot is.... some Copics dry (as opposed to when they are still wet from coloring/shading) to a different color ~ you know ~ the color on the marker. Dur!!! Sometime I wonder where my head is! It was still lots of fun and kinda neat to try a little harder to get some shadows and highlights. The sentiment will be another freebie for all play along at this week ~ hope you can join us! :)

A belated Friday Fun...

I sat down to write this post about an hour ago, but I couldn't think of a thing to say... so I went outside and enjoyed a few moments of a cool summer evening. Time is passing quickly this year. The garden has hardly had a chance to grow and the evenings are already turning cool. It's kinda sad. Soon it will be crisp days and nights, with a fire crackling in the woodstove... hopefully not too soon though. :) On to the subject at hand! lol!

My card features Snowman Building from Fairy Knoll. The papers are from Bo Bunny and some Disney vellum. The snowflakes are stacked individual irridesent snowflakes topped with a Dewdrop. The ribbon is coiled loosely and adhered at anchor points with glue dots. Border punched snowflakes and a glitter pen added the finishing touches. :)

This card is entered in the following challenges:

The Pink Elephant ~ Ribbon and Sparkles

A Pocket Full of Posies ~ Winged Things

It was a lot of fun coloring in the image and adding dimension with Flower soft, glitter, stickles, shimmerz, buttons and diecuts. Winter images always make me want to get out all the glitzy stuff! :)

Hope you have a "Fairy" Fantastic Day! :)

Friday Fun at Fairy Knoll Challenge

Today is the start of a new Friday Fun at Fairy Knoll Challenge. My card today features Annika. I had a lot of fun coloring her in such a sunshiney yellow. Yellow is a color that is often neglected in my creating, but now that I have noticed that fact, hopefully it will no longer be. :) The glitter (on everthing but the fairy ~ that is Art Institute) is from Stardust Stickles. Stickles are something else that have been negelected of late. :0) Paper is Basic Grey and Stampin Up cardstock. Flowers are from my stash ~ the centers are dewdrops and the bling is from Prima. I hope you will be able to join us this week!

There is also a buy one get one free sale going on at Fairy Knoll, so stop on by and check out the newest digi's! Have a happy 4th! Smiles ~ Brandi

Friday Fun at Fairy Knoll Challenge

Hello! Today is the 4th Friday Fun at Fairy Knoll Challenge... please join us for the chance to win a free digi of your choice! :) If you are in need of a Fairy Knoll image to play along with join our Paper Craft Planet Group and snag some of the freebies! :)

My card features Sneaky Petra from Fairy Knoll... you have to watch out for her or she will sneak away with your coffee... or maybe you have already had to deal with her ??? I am going to blame her from now on when my coffee cup goes missing! :)

She is much more glittery in real life... her dress sparkles alot more as does the dotted background. I would upload a closeup, but I have been having uploading troubles all morning and don't want to fight with it anymore.

The background was fun to make... just dot a few colors of complimentary Copics around and add some glitter dots and you are good to go! The papers are from my stash, the chipboard and ribbon from Fancy Pants and the butterfly is from Making Memories.

Hope you have a fantabulous weekend! Smiles ~ Brandi
